There are Christians on both sides of the fence. Many believe in a literal 7 day creation and some believe the 7 Days were 7 periods. The one thing they are in agreement about is that God is THE CREATOR- THE CAUSE “and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.” Indeed God as Creator is the Most Important truth.

If God truly is God He does NOT need millions of years to create man or anything else. Also, if God did NOT create man in an instant in His image as the Bible says than man would have to evolve and at some point be GIVEN a Spiritual dimension that God know God. There is NO where in scripture that teaches this.

I believe that if you believe the Bible first and foremost and then look at science through the eyes of what God says IS True; that you can’t avoid a literal 7 day creation. If you make physical science the foundation for truth and interpret the Bible through mans limited understanding of science you Could come up with a period other than a literal 7 days.

The best way to interpret scripture though is not through science, but through other scripture. Different passages shed light on other passages. And to be brutally honest; either the Bible IS 100% true or there is no way to know what parts are true and it becomes a rather worthless book with some nice stories and teachings, but not the Word of God.

Genesis 1:1-4
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

EACH day of creation God speaks of what He created during the day and then says- “there was evening and there was morning.” God goes out of His way to delineate each day from the next as He tells the story of creation.

Exodus 20:8-11
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.

Exodus 31:17
It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed.”

Hebrews 4:4
For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”;

EACH of these passages make it VERY clear that the Bible is speaking of a Literal 7 days of Creation. We can trust Him who was there before creation and at the beginning of creation.

We have value not because we have evolved to be the highest on the food chain because of time and chance, but because we were created in the image of God to be filled with the Love and Life of God- His Glory- Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1:26-27
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Why does EVERY man, woman and child have infinitely more value than every other created thing?
